GOC Field Manual, Chapter 03 - Investigation

Investigation

When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
- Sherlock Holmes in "The Sign of the Four" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

"Nothing's impossible."
- Agent "Madrigal"
- Strike Team "Noble Phantasm"

It's not glamorous, but 90% of our work revolves around gathering information about parathreats: finding them, investigating them, following leads, and disproving spurious data. Because it is so routine, many operatives make the mistake of assuming that investigation is safe. This is why half our casualties occur during the investigation phase.

Before

  • Keep an eye out: Parathreats can pop up at any time. Always maintain situational awareness. Learn the basic tell-tales of common parathreats, and watch for them constantly. More than one parathreat has been first discovered by an off-duty operative throughout the course of a normal day's activities.
